How much does it cost to run a contest?

Holding a contest on Squadhelp is extremely cost effective. We offer three packages for all contests. Our goal is to offer transparent and upfront pricing so that you know exactly how much you would need to pay before launching the contests.

Our Bronze package for most contests start at $199. This includes the award prize we would pay to the winner of the contest. For an additional fees, we also offer Silver and Gold packages which allow additional features such as premium contest listing, Non Disclosure Agreement, Trademark Search, Search Engine Privacy, Invitation Only contests etc.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a money back guarantee on contests when you purchase a Gold Package. if you are not satisfied with the results, simply contact us via email within 3 business days of contest end date. We will refund your prize amount as long as the following conditions have been met.

Qualification for Refund:

  • Atleast 50% of the entries were rated by the contest holder.
  • Contest holder provided sufficient feedback to the contestants while the contest was active.
  • The contest is not Guaranteed by the Contest Holder

Our contestants work extremely hard throughout the duration of the contest. Therefore, we want to make sure that the contestants have been given appropriate feedback to adjust their submissions before a contest can be eligible for a refund.

Important Notes:

  • Listing Fees are non-refundable. For example, if you purchase a Gold Package for $399 (where the creative gets paid $200). In this case, we will refund $200 if you are not satisfied with the results.
  • Guaranteed Contests are non-refundable. A winner must be selected for guaranteed contests.
  • For Bronze and Silver contests we offer complimentary extension of timeline if you receive less than the suggested number of entries for the contest.
What are contest holder ratings?

We have recently added a new feature to show the participation level of contest holders in their contests. The contest holder ratings are shown on a 5 star scale and are automatically calculated by the system. This allows contestants to see how active the contest holder is in providing feedback for the contest. Contests with high contest holder ratings attract significantly high level of participation from contests. Here are few things you can do as a contest holder to improve your contest holder rating:

1. Rate entries as they come in. This provides a quick input to contestants about the quality of their submission and whether they are going in right direction.

2. Provide as many comments as possible.

If you rate most of the entries and provide ongoing comments, your contest holder rating will immediately rise up to 5 stars, resulting in even greater participation from contestants.

How do I declare a winner?

You can select a winner anytime during your contest is Active or after it has closed. In order to select a winner,  click on “Actions” next to the entry, and then select the “Select Winner” option. The award money would automatically be credited to winner’s account after your selection.

Is there an incentive for declaring a winner early?

We strongly encourage that the contest holders select a winner as early as possible to recognize the hard work of our contestants. If you select a winner within 5 days of contest closing, you will immediately receive a credit that equals 10% of the package price you paid for the contest. This credit can be applied for any future contest that you launch at Squadhelp.

What are Guaranteed Contests?

Guaranteed contests are the safest bet for creatives to enter, and receive the most creatives and best quality work.

Our Bronze and Silver packages are always guaranteed. If you choose a Gold package, you have the option to keep the contest as Guaranteed or Non Guaranteed. When a contest holder upgrades to a guaranteed contest, they formally guarantee a winner will be chosen and the prize money will be awarded. These contests have had the prize money prepaid to Squadhelp, who awards the prize to the winning designer at the end of the contest.

Guaranteed contests can only be cancelled under the following conditions:

  • If it is determined by Squadhelp that the contest payment was incomplete, fraudulent or not authorized by the original credit card holder.
  • Contest was created in a wrong category, and needs to be cancelled so it can be launched in the correct category.
How do I provide feedback to contestants?

Providing ongoing feedback is an extremely critical factor to ensure a successful outcome for your contest.

We have seen that any contest that receives a large amount of ongoing feedback, usually receives a significantly higher participation from contestants, and the entries get progressively better with additional feedback from the contest holder.

Please read our tips on how to provide feedback to contestants.

Can I export the results of my naming contest?

Absolutely. As a contest holder, you can export the results of your naming contest at any time. Simply go to your contest page and click on “Export Results”. This will export all your submissions into an excel file.

How do I contact a specific user?

Option 1

As a contest holder, you have the ability to sent a private email to any contestant for your contest. Simply open your contest page and click on the send message option (under Actions Menu) next to any submission. This will allow you to send a private message to the contestant who submitted that entry.

Option 2

All users can contact other users on Squadhelp by sending them a private message. Just go to the user’s profile page and click on “Send Message”. This will send a message to user’s inbox and will also notify the user via email. Note: Users can disable this option if they do not wish to receive any private messages from other users.

Can I extend my contest?

Although most of our contests lead to a successful outcome within the initial duration, it is possible that you just haven’t found that  winning submission and you do not want to end the contest while the creative juices are still flowing. You can contact us at service@squadhelp.com and we would allow a complimentary extension of the contest.

How many entries am I allowed to submit in a contest?

The ability to submit entries to a contest is based upon two factors:

a) Your overall Percentile Ranking Score

b) Your Ratings on current contest

Here are the specific rules for number of entries allowed per contest:

  • Contestants with Percentile Ranking Score of 70% or below: 5 entries
  • Contestants with  Percentile Ranking Score between 70% and 75%: 10 entries
  • Contestants with  Percentile Ranking Score between 75% and 80%: 15 entries
  • Contestants with  Percentile Ranking Score between 80% and 85%: 20 entries
  • Contestants with  Percentile Ranking Score between 85% and 90%: 25 entries
  • Contestants with  Percentile Ranking Score greater than 90%: 30 entries

In addition, if you receive at least one high rating on the current contest, you will be allowed to submit bonus 10 entries.

Some examples to illustrate this:

Example 1: You have a Percentile Ranking Score of 92%, and you receive one “LOVE IT” rating on current contest. You will be allowed to submit a total of 40 entries in the current contest (30 based on your Percentile Ranking Score, and 10 bonus based upon your current contest rating).

Example 2: You have a Percentile Ranking Score of 77%, and you receive two “LIKE IT” ratings on current contest. You will be allowed to submit a total of 25 entries in the current contest (15 based on your Percentile Ranking Score, and 10 bonus based upon your current contest rating).

Example 3: You have a Percentile Ranking Score of 83%, and you have not received any high ratings on current contest so far. You will be allowed to submit a total of 20 entries in the current contest.

Therefore, the maximum number of ratings anyone can submit to a contest is 40. On the other hand, the minimum number anyone can submit is 5.

Notes:

  • If your quality score falls below an acceptable threshold as a result of submitting too many entries per contest, we might further restrict your account. In that case you might be able to submit only 1-2 entries per contest until your quality score improves.
  • If you are a new user, and have participated in less than 10 contests, you will be allowed to submit 5 or 10 entries based upon your submission ratings. We do not calculate the Percentile Ranking Score until you have participated in at least 10 contests.
  • The above limits are only for “Active Entries” in a contest. Once you reach the limit, you can withdraw some entries in order to submit more entries.
  • The total entries that can be submitted to any contest (including withdrawn entries) ranges from 15 to 100 based upon your Percentile Ranking Score.
  • If you were featured in the Leaderboard for the previous month, you will be entitled to a minimum of 25 entries for the current month.
  • You can see your Percentile Ranking Score on the “Submit Entry” or on your public profile page.
What are Best Entries?

Contestants have the ability to mark upto two of their entries as “Best Entries” in a contest. These entries will stand out from others, resulting in much higher likelihood that the contest holder will see these entries and evaluate them closely for winner selection.

In case of unawarded contests (if the contest holder does not select a winner), we will also consider best entries to pick a winner for a contest (in addition to other 4 star and 5 star entries).

You will need 50 points to highlight an entry as a best entry. This ensures that only those contestants who have earned points, are able to use this feature. It also ensures that contestants use this feature only in those cases where they truly think their submission is high quality, and deserves to win.

Every time you highlight a best entry, the system will automatically deduct 50 points from your account. If you highlight two entries in a contest as Best Entries, the system will deduct 100 accounts.

You have two ways to highlight Best Entries:

Option 1: At the time of entry submission

Option 2: After submitting your entries

You can go back to the contest page, and next to your entry, click on Actions, and select “Best Entry..” option

What happens if a contest is not awarded?

Please read our winner selection policy in case of unawarded contests.

Note – in case of contests that are not guaranteed, it is possible that a winner may not be awarded if the contest holder doesn’t like any of the submissions. However this is very rare based upon our experience. Guaranteed contests will always have a winner selected

How do I request a payout?

On your “My Account Page”, click on the “Request Payment” button next to your current balance. Once you click this button, you will be asked for your Paypal ID. That’s it! Before requesting payment,  you must send us your W9 or W8-BEN form. You only need to send this form once.

It will take 3-5 business days for funds to be deposited to your Paypal account.

When do I get paid?

If you win a contest (congrats!), the award amount will be automatically credited to your account immediately after your selection as winner. You can view your credit amount under “My Account” page.

Once the prize has been credited to your account, you can transfer the balance to your paypal account by requesting Payout from My Account section. This can take up to 3-5 working days (not public holidays or weekends).

Are there any fees associated with withdrawing money?

As a contest winner, you can withdraw money from your account at any time. We will process the withdrawal and deposit the money into your Paypal account within 2-3 business days. You are charged a transaction fees of 10% of the total balance being withdrawn. For example, if you win a contest for $100, a $10 administration fee will be applied (and $90 will be deposited into your paypal). This administration fee covers the cost of our payment escrow as well as processing of payment transactions (initially from the contest holder and then to the winner).

What is the guarantee that I will get paid?

Squadhelp guarantees that a winner will be selected for every guaranteed contest (see exceptions below). Even for contests that are not guaranteed, we collect the payment in advance from the contest holder and escrow the payment until a winner is selected. As soon as a winner is selected by the contest holder, the award amount is immediately transfered to the winner’s account. You can take a look at our Winners page to see all the winners for our previous contests.

A non guaranteed contest can be cancelled at the request of Contest holder if they do not like any submissions from the contest. In that case no winner will be selected from the contest, and the contest holder will receive a refund as per our Refund policy.

A guaranteed contest can be cancelled under the following circumstances:

  • If it is determined by Squadhelp that the contest payment was incomplete, fraudulent or not authorized by the original credit card holder.
  • Contest was created in a wrong category, and needs to be cancelled so it can be launched in the correct category.

If a contest payment is refunded due to reasons above, the contest will be cancelled and no winner will be selected in the contest.

What are Squadhelp Points?

Contestants earn Squadhelp points for participating in contests. They earn an even greater number of points for earning a bonus, for winning contests or for receiving high rating on their submissions.

The point system is designed to reward our high quality contestants and to minimize any spamming or poor quality submissions. Contestants who earn points receive additional privileges such as abilty to submit higher number of entries per contests. They can also use their points to mark upto 2 submissions per contests as “Best Entries”, which can increase their chance of winning a contest.

Can I register multiple domain names from a contest?

Every entry submitted to your contest is owned by the person who originally created it until it’s paid for. You automatically own the entry that you select as the winner. If you intend to use other entries from the contest, you must compensate the contestants who submitted the entry. In case of naming contests, if you want to register additional domain names from your contest, you can do so as long as you pay a $50 bonus to the contestants who came up with the names. For example, if you register 2 additional domain names (in addition to the winning entry) from a contest, you must pay a bonus of $100 ($50 each) to the contestants who submitted those names. .
